HistoryEditAround 18 BBY, a former jedi named Count Dooku had convinced several thousand star systems to cede from the Republic. He had told them of corruption controlling the Galactic Senate, and that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was a weak leader. The Republic watched this with growing alarm, which grew when a bounty hunter named Jango Fett tried to assasinate Senator Amidala of Naboo.
They sent Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi to find out about a certain group of "Cloners" on Kamino, who he had discovered from a dart that the bounty hunter had fired. When Obi-Wan came to Kamino, he discovered that, without authorization, a Jedi named Sifo Dias had organized the construction of a Clone Army on Kamino, almost ten years ago. There, he suspected that the Clone template was Jango Fett, the Bounty Hunter he was looking for. He attacked him on one of the landing sites, but Jango got away in his flagship. However, he tracked him all the way to Geonosis, where he discovered Count Dooku and the Seperatists building an army. He was eventually captured though, and interrogated by Dooku himself.
Obi-Wan's padawan named Anakin Skywalker, along with Senator Amidala, found out about his capture, and wnt to Geonosis to rescue him. They were captured themselves, and were sent to be executed, along with Obi-Wan. They were able to outwit the execution beasts, and were joined by a group of Jedi sent to take out the Seperatists. They fought against countless Battle Droids, and seemed to be near annhilation, when Yoda came with a Regiment of Clones, who battled the droids in what was known as the Battle of Geonosis. The CIS appeared to be losing, and were forced to retreat. Yoda, Obi- Wan, and Anakin tried capturing Dooku, but he got away while severely induring Obi-Wan and maiming Anakin.
Thus, the Clone Wars started.
